This wing is responsible for the following core functions:
- Examining and sanctioning all proposals having financial implications and are beyond the delegated powers of the Administrative Departments
- Creation/continuation of new and supernumerary posts
- Sanction of additional funds through supplementary grants
- Inclusion of new and continued temporary schemes in the provincial budget
- Implementing Chief Minister’s directives
- Sanctioning and releasing grants-in-aid
- Handling court cases
- Regularizing audit observations, advance/draft audit paras of concerned departments
- Participating in the meetings of PDWP, DDSC, SPC and attending other related meetings in the concerned departments
- Participating in the meetings of Board of Management of autonomous medical institutions
- Participating in the meetings of Senate, Syndicate and Finance and Planning Committees of the public sector universities and Board of Governors of autonomous colleges/schools
- Examining cases of re-appropriation of funds, statement of excess and surrenders and regular budget of concerned departments
- Dealing with matters of Punjab Entertainment Company
- Dealing with projects/programmes of concerned departments e.g. Health and Education
