  • Finance Secretary is the head of finance department and acts as principal accounting officer of the department
  • All the administrative and financial powers rest with the Secretary which are further delegated

  • He is responsible to supervise and distribute work of the department (as specified in Punjab government Rules of business, 2011) amongst different Wings of Finance department
  • He also keeps liaison with the Finance Minister and Chief Minister and attends high level meetings with foreign delegations.
  • Finance Secretary also acts as member, Punjab benevolent funds board.
  • Finance Secretary holds the position of Director in Board of Directors, Bank of the Punjab.

  • Attending high profile meetings on behalf of Finance Secretary.
  • Supervision of following functions performed by Budget, Resources, Establishment, Regulations and Policy & Research Wings, Finance Department.

Addl. Finance Secretary (Monitoring)

  • Head of Monitoring Wing of Finance Department.
  • Supervision of following functions performed by Monitoring Wing:-
    • Submission of finance accounts, appropriation accounts and commercial accounts along with the Auditor General’s report to the Governor for approval to present these documents to the Provincial Assembly.
    • Represents Finance Department in the meetings of the Public Accounts Committees of the Legislature.
    • Monitoring of the progress of disposal of audit paras is also the responsibility of this Wing.
    • Monitors progress of receipt of monthly civil accounts of Government from the Accountant General, examination of these accounts in the Finance Department and the reconciliation of the figures of expenditure and receipts from Administrative Department with the Audit Offices.
